Explore tab for unaffiliated users (Android) [Launched: September 12, 2025]
Job seekers using the Handshake Android app and not affiliated with a specific university now have access to the “Explore” tab. “Explore” allows job seekers to see key opportunities and content tailored just for them. More information here.
Share jobs via direct messages [Launched: September 12, 2025]
Job seekers are now able to share jobs with their peers via Inbox within Handshake. This action can be done from the job detail view and will allow job seekers to share relevant jobs with their peers, encouraging more valuable peer to peer interactions on Handshake. This feature is currently only available on web with iOS and Android to follow shortly. More information here.
New Handshake registration & onboarding (Android) [Launched: September 15, 2025]
Earlier this year, we released a completely new and streamlined onboarding registration process for job seekers looking to sign up for Handshake. We have now rolled this out to job seekers on Android. More information here.
“Create yours” and feed prompts [Launched: September 16, 2025]
Prompts are now live on the Handshake feed helping to remove the friction of not knowing what to post. Job seekers can now participate in timely and relevant prompts allowing for real conversations and perspectives in the Handshake feed. Additionally, job seekers posting can also pair their post with a special image treatment through “Create yours”. “Create yours” allows job seekers to join in on existing conversations and see how many of their peers have already participated.
Connection notifications [Launched: September 22, 2025]
Job seekers now get an in-app and push notification when someone from their cohort (same major and school) has joined Handshake. This helps job seekers connect and discover relevant peers more quickly and more easily. We also have introduced a new notification preference to ensure that job seekers have control over these notifications. More information here.
Double-tap to like feed posts [Launched: September 24, 2025]
Job seekers using the iOS Handshake app can now double-tap to like a post. Now, job seekers will have two ways to like a post on the Handshake feed 1) clicking the heart or 2) double-tapping on the post.
Re-onboarding for returning job seekers [Launched: September 25, 2025]
Job seekers returning to Handshake will see a new re-onboarding flow designed to help them quickly refresh their interests and profile. Job seekers will be able to skip this flow, if desired.
Weekly in-app notifications for cohort posts [Launched: September 26, 2025]
Job seekers will now receive a weekly in-app school digest notification that highlights new posts coming from peers at their school. This allows job seekers to stay up to date and discover relevant content activity that is happening at their respective schools. More information here.
