Handshake student product updates—September 11, 2025

Smart app banner [Launched: September 3, 2025]

Job seekers using mobile web on iOS Safari will now see a banner nudge prompting them to download the Handshake app. For job seekers that already have the Handshake app downloaded but are accessing Handshake on mobile web, they’ll receive a nudge to open the Handshake app. This is only available for job seekers using iOS. 

Mentions within Handshake feed [Launched: September 9, 2025] 

Job seekers are now able to mention and tag other student and employer users. Job seekers will be able to mention other users in a new Handshake feed post. If a job seeker is replying within the comments, the person that they are replying to will be automatically mentioned. If a job seeker is mentioned, they will receive a notification. Mentions allow interactions and conversations on the Handshake feed to be more personal and relevant to each individual job seeker. Mentions is currently only available for web and iOS job seekers. 

In-app notifications from Brands you follow [Launched: September 11, 2025] 

Now shipped to 100%, job seekers will receive an in-app notification when a brand that they currently follow posts on the feed. This allows job seekers to stay up-to-date with brands that they follow on Handshake whenever they have a new post.
