Handshake student product updates—June 5, 2026
"Employer visible" resume uploads [Launched: May 29, 2026]
Resumes are now set to employer-visible by default when you upload them via the My Documents tab with a prominent option to uncheck a box if you prefer to keep it private. Job seekers with a public resume are significantly more likely to be viewed and messaged by employers.
Apply Flow Revamp on iOS [Launched: June 1, 2026]
The job application experience on iOS has been redesigned with a cleaner, faster flow from job listing to submission.
AI Showcase in iOS overflow menu [Launched: June 1, 2026]
The AI showcase, where job seekers can browse AI projects created by their peers and submit their own to get highlighted, is now a tap away in the iOS overflow menu.
Public profiles [Launched: June 3, 2026]
For about a year, job seekers have been able to make their profiles visible outside a Handshake login so they can share a link with peers and recruiters. Public profiles are now properly indexed by search engines, so recruiters searching for you online can find your Handshake profile directly in Google results.
Sign up & duplicate accounts [Launched: June 5, 2026]
Job seekers who go to app.joinhandshake.com to sign up for an account now initially see the option to enter an email or authenticate with Google. As subsequent, dedicated step, encourages them to enter their .edu email to affiliate with their school and explains the benefits of affiliation. The resulting account has both email addresses associated with it. If the student attends a partner school, this helps ensure they don't create a duplicate account if they initially enter a personal email during account creation. Students who go to their school-specific login page to sign up will still see SSO as their primary login option.
